The addition of a Balancer gauge allows liquidity providers to earn BAL rewards in addition to trading fees from liquidity mining.&nbsp;</p><p>Further, incentivizing the pool can serve to deepen liquidity and make OETH’s peg even more resilient.</p><h2>Deepening OETH Integrations on Balancer</h2><p>In September, OETH deployed&nbsp;<a href="https://www.oeth.com/oeth-balancer-strategy">a new strategy</a> harnessing Balancer’s rETH/WETH MetaStable pool. The liquidity mining strategy generates rewards from rETH staking, trading fees, and BAL rewards. These LP positions are also staked to Aura to earn additional AURA rewards. These mechanics serve to provide increased safety and predictability for OToken holders as only certain amounts of collateral can be allocated towards a specific strategy.</p><p>The Origin DeFi DAO recently passed a&nbsp;<a href="https://vote.ousd.com/#/proposal/0x2694b666a1b8b01572008b6821f0f8a6842c30eb556883b7f2929a9c67fbb7ee">governance proposal</a> outlining rules and parameters for OETH funds allocations.</p><h2>OETH Allocations and Parameters</h2><p>OETH’s min and max allocations remove the need for frequent rebalancing while also reducing costs and preserving value in the face of volatility.</p><ul><li>All supported LSTs (stETH, rETH, and frxETH)&nbsp; maintain a minimum allocation of 5% to preserve decentralized exposure.</li><li>A maximum of 66% of collateral can be allocated to a single LST. Origin DeFi Implements Fund Management Parameters

<h2>Aligning OETH and OUSD Performance Fees</h2><p>We’re excited to announce that a&nbsp;<a href="https://www.oeth.com/ogv-buyback-proposal">recent governance proposal</a> was passed by OGV stakers! The proposal aligns how fees are used across both of Origin’s OTokens, OUSD and OETH.&nbsp;</p><p>As a result of the proposal, Origin Ether’s&nbsp;<a href="https://vote.ousd.com/#/proposal/0x66a9e0040db9a6f993a43edfb6058d7a8eee355fdf866878ab9e990be38672f6">performance fee</a> will now be used to bolster rewards for OGV stakers:</p><ul><li>50% of OETH’s fees will be used to buy back OGV on the open market. This OGV will be redistributed to stakers in the form of additional rewards.</li><li>The remaining 50% will go toward purchasing CVX in order to boost yield generation for OETH.</li></ul><p>This design mirrors OUSD’s performance fee usage, which similarly boosts rewards for the platform and stakers. Introducing Origin Ether’s Balance Sheet on OETH Analytics Dashboard

<h1>OGV Buyback Proposal</h1><p>A new Snapshot proposal is live, aiming to adjust Origin DeFi Governance tokenomics by directing a portion of Origin Ether’s protocol fees to OGV.</p><p>At present, OGV’s ~28.8% vAPYs are generated from a mix of token emissions and OUSD protocol fees. In line with our long-term goal of creating sustainable yield for stakers, the new proposal seeks to buy back additional OGV on the open market with OETH protocol fees.</p><p>Voting commenced on October 11th, 2023. OGV stakers can&nbsp;<a href="https://vote.ousd.com/#/proposal/0x66a9e0040db9a6f993a43edfb6058d7a8eee355fdf866878ab9e990be38672f6">vote</a> on Snapshot until 5 pm ET on October 17th, 2023.</p><h2>Expanding OGV’s Utility</h2><p>Since OETH’s launch in May, the Origin DeFi DAO has used the Origin Ether’s fees to accumulate CVX to its treasury. Now that&nbsp;<a href="https://www.oeth.com/analytics/protocol-revenue">OETH fees</a> are a substantial source of revenue for the DAO, OGV buybacks could be another way to drive value back to both OGV stakers and holders.</p><p>It’s important to note that both CVX accumulation and OGV buybacks have merit. Purchasing flywheel tokens is an important investment in future sustainable yield via Origin’s AMO strategy, and it helps ensure strong liquidity for OETH. OGV buybacks, on the other hand, drive value to OGV holders, thus increasing the value of OGV and making our bribes and other incentive programs more efficient.</p><p>Origin Ether governance was&nbsp;<a href="https://www.oeth.com/oeth-governance-handoff">handed off</a> to OGV stakers in July, empowering DAO members to vote on fund allocations and submit new proposals. Should the current proposal pass, a portion of OETH protocol fees will be used to buy back OGV, ranging from 0% to 100%. Protocol fees not used for buybacks will continue to be used to accumulate CVX or other flywheel tokens.</p><h2>Governing The Origin DeFi Ecosystem</h2><p>OGV acts as the governance and value-accrual token for Origin DeFi’s thriving yield suite. OGV Buyback Proposal Now Live: Use OETH Fees to Buy Back OGV

<h2>OGV Inflation Schedule</h2><p><a href="https://docs.oeth.com/governance/ogv-staking#staking-rewards">Origin DeFi Governance (OGV)</a> is the backbone of our yield generation ecosystem, serving as both a value-accrual and governance token for Origin’s OTokens. We’ve been thrilled by the community’s support for OGV, with over 80% of all tokens currently staked.</p><p>In accordance with the OGV&nbsp;<a href="https://docs.oeth.com/governance/ogv-staking#staking-rewards">inflation schedule</a>, Origin DeFi Governance’s monthly emissions were halved on October 4th, 2023, from 33.6M to 16.8M – a 50% reduction that translates to far less supply dilution. Let’s take a look at OGV’s inflation schedule, why it’s important, and how it impacts Origin DeFi’s ecosystem.&nbsp;</p><h2>Paving The Way to More Sustainable Yield</h2><p>OGV’s inflation mechanism was implemented to bootstrap protocol growth, encouraging users to stake OGV and reduce circulating supply via staking rewards from OGV emissions and buy backs.</p><p>These reductions are stepping stones to more sustainable yield for stakers – as OUSD and OETH gain further adoption, token emissions are replaced by rewards from protocol fees. As a result, the OGV community can look forward to a far more sustainable rewards pool, coupled with further reduced supply dilution.</p><p>OUSD is currently contributing half of its performance fee to buy back OGV from the open market and distribute it to OGV stakers as rewards. While the performance fee for OETH has historically been used to accumulate CVX, stay tuned for a governance proposal launching in the coming days to use a portion of Origin Ether’s fees to buy back OGV.&nbsp;</p><p>In September, the OGV DAO earned&nbsp;<a href="http://www.oeth.com/analytics">$69,000 of fees</a> from OETH, accounting for the majority of value accrual to the DAO. Therefore, OGV buy backs could increase significantly if the governance proposal passes.</p><h2>Upcoming Reductions</h2><p>The next emission reduction will take place on&nbsp;September 24th, 2024. OETH’s reserves of rETH and WETH will be deployed to provide liquidity to the pool in order to earn trading fees and LP reward tokens in the form of BAL and AURA.&nbsp;</p><p>On top of the fees earned from the liquidity pool, the strategy will continue to earn staking rewards on its rETH holdings. What’s more, optimizing the LP position through Aura enables the strategy to earn boosted yield by compounding rewards tokens and earning AURA incentives. AURA incentives are harvested to enhance OETH yield, making it an attractive addition to Origin Ether’s yield suite.</p><p>The choice of Balancer's rETH/ETH liquidity pool is a strategic move into Balancer’s ecosystem. With an attractive APY and $44M in TVL, OETH can deploy significant funds without yield compression. Moreover, this integration represents an investment into Balancer's growing ecosystem, paving the way for future collaborations.&nbsp;</p><p>As stated in the governance proposal, up to $14M in liquidity will be provided to the rETH/WETH pool, resulting in an approximate +54 bp change to OETH yield.&nbsp;</p><p>This strategy empowers Origin Ether to deliver more scalable APYs, while also providing yet another lucrative avenue to diversify fund allocations.</p><h2>What’s New for OETH Holders</h2><p>OETH holders stand to gain significantly from this new strategy. Unlike existing models, the new strategy offers yield sourced through both liquid staking rewards and DeFi.</p><p>Aligning perfectly with Origin’s mission to offer the best risk-adjusted yield on blue-chip assets, the strategy leans on Aura, which allows users to compound BAL rewards in a similar vein to Convex on Curve. In doing so, OETH achieves a tighter peg to ETH while becoming more efficient in the process.</p><h2>Efficacy: Doubling Yield Returns</h2><p>The AMO strategy is designed to effectively double returns by&nbsp;pre-minting OETH in accordance with the ETH added to the Metapool. The amount of OETH pre-minted ranges between one to two times the quantity of ETH deposited, depending on the existing balance of the Metapool. If there is less OETH than ETH in the pool, then more OETH is added with the WETH to help rebalance. Conversely, if there is more OETH than ETH in the pool, no new OETH will be deposited by the AMO.</p><p>Thanks to the recent AMO improvements, the OETH protocol has more control over how liquidity is managed within the AMO strategy. Not only can OETH be pre-minted as stated above, but single-sided liquidity deposits are now enabled under strict conditions.&nbsp;</p><p>This proactive rebalancing results in a more lucrative yield generation mechanism. Thanks to the AMO, Origin Ether can provide roughly 2x the liquidity on Curve, which results in OETH holders earning a much higher share of the rewards pool.</p><h2>A Practical Example</h2><p>Consider a scenario where the AMO strategy owns 75% of the Metapool's LP tokens, and thus has a claim to 75% of the ETH and OETH in the pool. A user swaps 10 ETH for OETH in the pool. As a result, the collateral assets the AMO can claim from the metapool increase by approximately 7.5 ETH (after a negligible 0.04% fee). This results in a harmonious increase in both circulating OETH and ETH collateral, preserving asset integrity.</p><p>As shown in the chart below, the AMO strategy has claim to 75% of the ETH and OETH in the pool (this is indicated in blue). <p>Origin Ether has accrued over 19,000 ETH TVL in less than two months, and frxETH has proven itself as a preferred collateral type for Origin Ether. Nearly 3,000 frxETH has been deposited to mint OETH, signaling the community's initial support of the protocol.&nbsp;</p><p>Despite scaling rapidly, participants still enjoy ~9% trailing 30-day APYs on OETH thanks to the protocol’s cutting edge strategies. Utilizing frxETH, new mechanics are now being implemented in order to further boost yield and capital efficiency.</p><h2>sfrxETH Staking for ETH Deposits</h2><p>Frax holders have been early adopters of OETH. <h2>Making Waves In LSTFi</h2><p>Origin Ether has seen tremendous growth since launching in May. This article aims to summarize OpenZeppelin’s findings, assuring users that Origin Ether’s code remains bulletproof.&nbsp;</p><h2>Origin Ether (OETH) Yield Strategies</h2><p>Origin Ether earns holders top-of-market yield on ETH, directly in their wallets in the form of “up-only” rebasing. The protocol earns yield through exposure to liquid staking tokens (LSTs) and liquidity provision within DeFi. Rewards tokens earned in DeFi are swapped into OETH and auto-compounded in user wallets. Through strategic allocations of ETH and LSTs, OETH earns significantly higher yield than holding liquid staking tokens outright.&nbsp;</p><p>There are two primary features of Origin Ether’s yield strategy that contribute to the token’s elevated yield. Its Automated Market Operations (AMO) strategy utilizes protocol-owned liquidity to earn a greater share of rewards on Curve, while allowing the protocol to better maintain its ether peg and reduce slippage.&nbsp;</p><p>Another factor that elevates yield is Origin Ether’s rebasing dynamic. By default, OETH held in smart contracts does not earn yield. Instead, this yield is passed on to regular holder wallets, boosting yield earned for normal users.</p><h2>Audit Findings</h2><p>A total of 10 issues have been found. Only 1 was marked as medium severity, while the rest were marked as low severity issues. The medium severity issue has since been resolved, as well as many low severity issues alongside it.</p><ul><li>Critical Severity:&nbsp; 0</li><li>High Severity: 0&nbsp;</li><li>Medium Severity: 1 (resolved)</li><li>Low Severity: 9 (resolved where applicable)&nbsp;</li></ul><h2>What Was the Medium Severity Issue?</h2><p>OpenZeppelin reported one medium severity issue:&nbsp;Data feeds utilized by Origin Ether may be outdated.&nbsp;</p><p>One of OETH’s techniques to resist a change in the mix of backing assets in the case of a depeg of one of these assets depends on Chainlink oracles. In the event that Chainlink stopped updating their oracles, OETH would no longer have this additional layer of resistance.&nbsp;</p><p>This issue was marked as medium severity, as funds were not at risk of being stolen, and the issue would only become a concern in the event of a depeg. OETH’s oracle use is designed in such a way that even if all oracles used were completely under an attacker’s control, the attacker would not be able to reduce the number of ETH equivalents backing other users’ funds.</p><p>In response to OpenZeppelin’s findings, Origin DeFi has added code to stop mints or redeems of OETH that use a particular token if that token’s Chainlink oracle has not been updated within a specified timeframe.&nbsp;</p><h2>Origin DeFi’s Commitment to Security</h2><p>The best risk-adjusted returns in DeFi are only offered by protocols with bulletproof code.</p><p>Origin DeFi understands that smart contract risk is among the most prevalent risks in DeFi, so it maintains a security-first mindset for all its products and code deployments. <h2>Origin Ether x Frax Finance</h2><p>Origin Ether (OETH) recently launched, and liquid staking protocol Frax Ether (frxETH) is one of the protocol’s initial yield strategies. Integrating Frax’s liquid staking token marks a major milestone on OETH’s quest to deliver the best risk-adjusted ETH yield in DeFi.</p><h2>Efficient Capital, Premier Collateral</h2><p>Frax Finance has innovated relentlessly to cement its place as one of DeFi’s blue-chip platforms. The stablecoin protocol launched its own liquid staking product for ETH in late 2022, which has enjoyed significant adoption since.</p><p>Origin Ether users will be able to mint OETH by depositing either frxETH or sfrxETH. In order to maximize yield, frxETH held in the OETH treasury will be staked as sfrxETH. In doing so, frxETH will play a key role in earning yield for OETH holders.</p><h3>How it Works</h3><p>Frax’s&nbsp;<a href="https://medium.com/intotheblock/frax-eth-a-novel-liquid-staking-derivative-model-fbf755565d81">liquid staking model</a> utilizes two tokens: frxETH (Frax Ether) and sfrxETH (Frax Staked Ether).</p><p>frxETH&nbsp;maintains parity to ETH and can be minted using ETH. However, <strong>frxETH does not accrue staking rewards.</strong> Instead, frxETH holders accrue rewards from LP positions on Convex and Curve when staked, which utilize the frxETH-ETH pool. As Frax is one of the largest holders of Convex’s CVX, extra rewards are easily directed to users.</p><p>On the other hand, <strong>sfrxETH is a&nbsp;yield-bearing token</strong> that represents a user’s initial capital and proof-of-stake&nbsp;staking rewards. The sfrxETH token increases in value as rewards are earned.</p><p>Frax users deposit ETH in order to mint frxETH. frxETH holdings can then be deposited to the sfrx vault in exchange for sfrxETH.&nbsp;</p><p>This two-pronged approach isolates the non-yield bearing token (frxETH) from the yield bearing token (sfrxETH) when staking ETH. Under this model, users are granted more flexibility compared to a single LST token design.&nbsp;</p><h3>Impressive Adoption</h3><p>In the space of just a few months, Frax Ether has risen to the fourth largest LST protocol by total value locked (TVL). In excess of 171K ETH has been staked via Frax across more than 4,000 validator nodes. This adoption has seen Frax Ether’s TVL skyrocket to ~$320M.</p><p>Despite having grown exponentially, Frax still offers some of the highest ETH yield among LST issuers. Since rewards are distributed through rebasing, no gas fees are required to harvest rewards.&nbsp;</p><p>Origin Ether earns boosted yield through its rebasing mechanism, as not all OETH tokens rebase. Since then, over 15% of ETH’s supply has been staked to the network. This figure is lower than other PoS networks as stakers were unable to withdraw their staked ETH until the network’s&nbsp;<a href="https://decrypt.co/125186/ethereum-shanghai-upgrade-means-you-eth-sec">Shanghai upgrade</a> that went live on April 13, 2023.&nbsp;</p><h2>Lido Liquid Staking (stETH)</h2><p><a href="https://lido.fi/ethereum">Lido finance</a> claims the title of the largest overall ETH staking protocol with $11.2B in total value locked (TVL). Investors who stake their ETH to Lido receive an LST in the form of Staked-ETH (stETH) at a 1:1 value. Token holders’ balances increase to reflect the rewards earned from their underlying ETH.</p><p>At present, Lido stakers enjoy a 4.8% APR on their capital. Lido claims 10% commission fees for offering the service. Lido currently runs 27 node operators for its ether deposits, which is 26 more than Coinbase but still far less than other decentralized options.&nbsp;</p><p>Coupled with Lido’s early launch in December 2020, this structure has seen the platform rise to become the largest liquid staking protocol in the space. According to Dune analytics, Lido comprises over 93% of the decentralized liquid staking market share. ETH liquid staking tokens solve these problems, enabling anyone to&nbsp;<a href="http://app.oeth.com">stake ether</a> while keeping their funds liquid.</p><h2>What Is Liquid Staking?</h2><p>Liquid staking allows users to stake their ETH (or other tokens) without minimum deposit requirements and their own validator set up. This provides incentives for validators to act honestly, and provides them with income to upkeep the necessary infrastructure.</p><h2>Lido Liquid Staking (stETH)</h2><p>Lido Finance is a liquid staking protocol that issues the stETH token. Lido is the most popular staking provider by far, having 31% market share of all staked ETH and 74.44% share among LSTs. Lido staking’s popularity stems from a number of factors, such as the ease of staking, elevated yields, and depth of liquidity.&nbsp;</p><p>Lido’s commitment to maintaining a 1:1 peg between stETH and ETH took the form of LDO incentives given to stETH/ETH liquidity providers. Liquidity providers in these pools received elevated APYs due to the value of LDO tokens, resulting in a deep liquidity base for stETH holders to sell their tokens for ETH when they want to exit their position.&nbsp;</p><p>The assurance of liquidity not only attracted potential stakers, but allowed DeFi applications to incorporate stETH into credit markets and yield derivatives. With deep liquidity, lending applications could liquidate collateral confidently. The increase in utility for stETH further fueled demand for the LST.&nbsp;</p><h2>Other Ethereum Liquid Staking Tokens&nbsp;</h2><p>While Lido is the most popular LST, there are several other competitors that have gained traction over the last 12 months. Here are some stETH alternatives that may be a good fit for you.&nbsp;</p><h3>Coinbase ETH (cbETH)</h3><p>After stETH, the next most popular LST is Coinbase ETH (cbETH). Being a publicly listed company and household name for crypto asset trading and holding, Coinbase was able to attract stakers due to its convenience, strong customer base, and brand name. Notably, cbETH fees come in at the high end, charging a 25% cut of yield generated.&nbsp;</p><h3>Rocket Pool ETH (rETH)&nbsp;</h3><p>By differentiating its product, Rocket Pool became a top liquid staking protocol.
